Hi.
We have had some news about the governors meeting, our head teacher has cancelled it, but we hope it will be next week instead. we have also split from the boys in our group because we have some ideas to raise money for the orang-utans ophanages in Borneo.

Spreading The Word!
I'm so proud of the students at Tanfield and the students at Birdwood. Maybe the next task could be to make a very short powerpoint presentation to show to the governors next Wednesday evening. This could highlight the work you have done so far and how you all plan to help the Orang-utans in the future. This will make everything a lot clearer for the governors and perhaps we could adapt this resource to show other students. This would really spread the word! What would be even more powerful is if the Australian students did the same and we could also show their presentation.
Thanks guys.

Brilliant work to all of the students!!
At long last some of my students here at Tanfield School have overcome their technical problems and have posted short messages on our web blog. They are also about to feed back to the head teacher and the school governors about all of the fantastic things they have been doing during their thrice weekly meetings. I would like them to communicate with students from Birdwood on a regular basis. So if the Birdwood students could reply to my students and then you can begin asking each other questions about the work you have been doing and sharing ideas for future work. Well done guys! Keep blogging!
PS. Can you all scroll down the list of blogs and click on the link that Mr Vonow (Lynton) has put on and check out this link below that I have found. They are really cool!

Hi from Australia
Hi guys,
We're back from Summer holidays. It's great to hear of the gathering momentum in England in regard to saving the orangutans. A couple of students have asked me here at Birdwood if I can set the first date for the orangutan group meeting already, so the efforts continue. Let's have a great year, raise some money, write in those letters to companies, keep hassling them until they change their use of palm oil, write to politicians, and learn more ourselves. I think it would be good if we could find out more about the 'Safe Palm Oil' movement, and about the development of bio-fuels as a world industry.
Let's let each other know what we are finding out too.
You (in England) should hear from our students here soon,
Cheers.
Lynton,
PS. Please send us a copy of your DVD

On-going work
I'm really excited with the work the Orang-utan group at Birdwood School have produced. Mr Vonow and his team of students are doing a wonderful job. Especially with the money you raised last year. Can you give us some tips to follow over here. Our students have also been working hard and are about to send some really good letters to local business persuading them not to use palm oil because of the devasting effects it has on the Orang-utans habitat. The students have also checked out their canteen here at Tanfield School and the canteen manager is now aware of the issues and has pledged not to use any products with palm oli in the ingredients. They have also produced a promotional DVD which I would like them to show to the rest of the students at Tanfield School. So well done to Caitlin and Stephen and the rest of the crew at Tanfield!

dear allie
It is great that your school has gotten involved in the orangutans and i can not wait to see your photos. At our school we are just starting to get properly involved with this and me and a couple of my friend are running a club at school for anybody else who wants to get involved. Hopefully at our school we will be able to get enough people interested that we can really make a difference. What have you been doing? I will let you know when we do something really good at our school . CAITLIN

Tanfield School Update
Just a quick message to all those avid Orang-utan fans out there in Australia. My students are now back at school but have gone to Jersey for a week on a school excursion. This excursion will involve the students observing Chimpanzees and other apes not sure if there are Orang-utans at Jersey zoo. Hopefully the students will be given some information about these wonderful creatures. I will then be asking them to share that with you guys down under.
Hope all is well at Birdwood. I really miss all of your smiley faces.
Richard

Hey everyone at Birdwood High School, thank you so much for your fantastic messages that you have posted on the Orang-utans web blog. I have been particularly impressed by your enthusiasm which is obviously guided by Lynton and Harry and the wonderful work you are doing in your "save the Orang-utans group". I will share your blogs with my students and ask them to reply when we return to school in September. I will also ask them about how they propose to raise awareness and funds to sponsor a baby Orang-utan which you seem to be doing already (what a great idea!). Well done to everyone involved. Keep cheering for those fantastic orange apes!!

Hello Friends Of The Orangutan!!
As you probably already know the Orangutan species is VERY endangered. I read the other day that due to the destruction of their habitat the species will be extinct within the next 10 years. That would be one of earths beautiful creatures gone forever at the harmful hands of humans. Please help us, the Birdwood Save The Orangutan Club, to raise funds and conserve this creature!

Hey all you Orangutan fans out there..............................
I am a member of the save the orangutan group at Birdwood High School.
I am really keen on saving them.
I am a very outspoken person and when I found out that my favourite animal was in trouble I was very outraged that some of the most popular foods such as KFC and Smiths chips use Palm Oil and I hope that they will change their minds and will stop killing these gorgeous animals.
